JONNY HAMILTON

Born in Portland, Oregon in 1979, Jonny loved to draw, sing, perform, and create from a very young age. Starting with comics and flip-books in grade school, he was always able to find an audience. In high school he started experimenting with stop-motion animation, and music production.

In 2006 Jonny moved to New York city taking on motion design position at an advertising network. He met the love of his life, got married, had twin boys in 2013 and moved out of the city shortly thereafter. His children’s love for his artwork, the arrival of his third son, along with a 90-minute train commute inspired him to write his first children’s book, What Babies Do at Night.

After that came The Snowbaby, and The Annual Elf. For years these books sat on the shelf. Friends and family members sang their praises and encouraged Jonny to try to get them published. In 2021 Jonny did just that, self-publishing The Snowbaby, and sold hundreds of copies thanks to the amazingly supportive community of Greenlawn, NY. He joined Long Island Children’s Writers and Illustrators and has been visiting schools around Long Island for readings, slowly but surely building a fan base and inspiring him to write more and more.
